Thelma and Louise

It's been said to "never say never", and this saying has never been truer in my life than it is now.
I am a dog person. 100% team dog, no cats for me, no, siree, dogs all the way. Over the years people would occasionally ask why we don't have cats, and I was always quick to point out that "we don't like them".  Which I believed to be the truth.

Boy oh boy, was I ever wrong!

In a classic Richard-move, he brought home two kittens last week while I was gone, and when I first saw them, I stubbornly clung to my old convictions of not caring much about them.

That lasted for about a minute.

After that minute, I took them out of their box and cradled them in my arms - and I was a goner. Total love explosion, all at once, right in my face!
They purr and snuggle and are so full of love and trust, I'm obsessed with them! There's a new crazy cat-lady in town, and I don't care who knows it. I'm in love!
I was initially worried about how the dogs would take to the kittens (they have never lived with cats before), but they are amazing! We introduced them slowly one by one, and supervise them at all times, but they are getting it that these two little felines are part of the family and not food. The kittens are reckless and brave and don't think twice about going after them, and it's the cutest thing ever
No wait, when they play with each other, that's the cutest thing ever.
Or maybe when they climb up the sofa, only to kamikaze down 5 seconds later ...?

Have I mentioned that I'm crazy about these cuties? 😁
Tiny kitty makes the corgi look big!
Tom Snow is as cool as his names suggests. He's a big softie.
Their names are Thelma and Louise, chosen by me. For the first few days before I arrived back home they were Black and Blacker (chosen by Rich), which was a hard no from me 🙅
Men! *shakes her head in pretend exasperation, when in reality eternally grateful to her husband for bringing these new loves into her life*

I've taken roughly 500 photos of them so far, but in 90% of them the kittens are blurry black shapes. They are freakishly fast! I restrained myself from sharing the other 50 photos, because I totally get it that they are not as interesting to you as they are to me - which still boggles my mind, to be honest.
Me, a cat person?! Who knew! What else am I wrong about? Is my entire life based on lies and false assumptions?!
You heard it here first: life is crazy.

Anyway, happy Wednesday! I hope yours was filled with love, cookies and pleasant surprises.

xoxo Miriam

    1. They really are! Our newest favourite thing to do is to sit on the couch and watch the babies play. They are so mischievous and funny!

  2. They are so adorable! I do consider myself the same: 100% dog person, no cats, no thank you. BUT I think for me that comes from my mom being extremely allergic to them. Every time we went somewhere with cats, she'd complain about headaches, and 'oh its the cats' and she'd even avoid going places where there were cats altogether. So maybe I've adopted some of that. But then my heart melts when I do see a kitten like these... I'm so glad Richard brought them home!

    1. So am I! Without him, I would miss out on so much in life: people, animals, dinners, friends. He always pushes me (gently, usually) to let more into my life: more love, laughter, companionship, and social interactions. I'm so grateful to him for that, because without him, my life would be a lot emptier. Tidier and more organized for sure, but lonelier and a lot less fun.

  4. Lol, just wait till they’re tearing round the house at 3 in the morning, or walking over you face at 5am, cos they’re DYING of hunger! All is forgiven when they give you head butts and purr at you like you’re the best thing ever. Hard not to love them!
