Hi there! I'm so happy that you came across my blog. I'm Miriam, the one on the left. The handsome cowboy to my right is Richard, my husband. Fun fact: We are 25 years apart, the same age difference as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas (the similarities end there).
Our love story is unusual, which is why I wrote a book about it! Let's Pretend This Is Normal is my memoir about how heartbreak led me to Canada and the love of my life. My second book Quit the Hustle is about our society's unhealthy obsession with the hustle, and how letting go of the need to improve everything about ourselves will liberate us.
I thought I would give you a little roadmap of the blog, so you can see what it - and I - are all about.
A good place to start is right here, where you will learn that I have been married for ages, despite my youthful appearance. Richard keeps me in dogs and cats, but also made me an instant stepmom of 4 when we got hitched all those years ago. That's more than enough for me, so there won't be any babies of the human variety in my future. Anything else with fur or feathers goes, though.
I have published over 1,000 posts in the 8 years this blog has been around. Crazy! Some of my (and my readers') favourites are:
- Everything I never knew about therapy
- The joys and woes of being a rural x-ray technologist
- Don't settle
- How to live a happy life with depression
- How mindfulness set me free
- The rules do not exist
- Diary of a healthcare worker during Covid-19
- The Great Exhaustion
- Let's all take a break from improving ourselves
- Getting off the treadmill
- Stop feeling guilty
- When your brain threatens your marriage
- On being whoever you want to be
- Life with Lily
- What is PMDD?
- The meaning of life
- A day in the life of my depression
- X-ray girl
- Coming home to myself
- The best days of our lives haven't happened yet
- Resume of failures
- Be the heroine of your own story
- Do we ever get the life we thought we would?
- The voice in my head is an asshole
- Manifest your dream life
- Writing about hard things
- 50 life lessons
- A letter to my 38-year old self
- Can we become one of the successful ones?
- What I will remember about our first desert summer
- Love your fucking life
- Don't live the same year 75 times and call it a life
- Grey: yay or nay?
- Why you need a mission statement for your life
I'm on mission to not only create the best and wildest life of my dreams, but to also inspire you to do the same.
We only have one life to live, and we should all strive to make it as happy, filled with laughter, adventure, wonder and joy as possible.
Together, we can do this!
Thanks for stopping by. ❤
