I have a few things to tell you! I'm quite excited, since this year seems to be destined to be of epic proportions in terms of what the world is up to, and incredibly small when it comes to our personal lives. If you feel like that, rest assured: we all do. But personally, I find it to be a very nice break.
What's not to like about unashamedly lazing about in your hammock/couch/bed after work and knowing that you are a responsible member of society since you're doing your bit to slow the spread of Covid-19? It's awesome.
Yesterday I found out that Dakota Johnson and I have something in common! I read this Architectural Digest article featuring her home (which is stunning and endearingly non-Hollywood), and the accompanying video really highlights her quirky personality. She gives the AD team a tour of her house and yard, and amongst other details points out her bamboo which is incredibly tall.
She then continues telling us that her one neighbour is "at war" with her about how high the bamboo in the driveway is growing.
"Which is insane, because why would I want people to be able to see in my house? I can't believe that I'm even letting you guys in my house! So they can just shove it."
I love her!
How nice to know that a famous Hollywood actress and I have to deal with the same annoyances.
Here is the video:
Other nice things that have happened lately:
The tiniest calf in the world was born: Minnie Moo! We are completely smitten.
I bought the most fabulous work shoes in the history of work shoes:
They are x-ray shoes! That girl on the them even wears her head in a top bun, just like me! Aren't they incredible? I got them from MedicApparel, and I recommend them to anyone. They are cute and comfy and I'm in love.
We enjoyed a sun shower from the porch which was nothing short of magical.
I got a few DMs and comments from readers telling me how much they enjoyed Let's Pretend This is Normal. This will never not be special to me, so thank you very much! I released it two years ago in June, and it's incredible to know that people are still finding it and reading it. Just a reminder: if you'd like a signed copy of either one of my two books, you can get them right here.
Speaking of writing: I'm finally working properly on book #3! It's my first fiction novel, and I'm having so much fun writing it! Which is a good sign, because hopefully that means it will be just as enjoyable to read it. It's a psychological thriller set in a small town with three female protagonists - and that's all I'm gonna say for now. I'm at just over 9,000 words out of a projected 80,000, so I still have quite a ways to go. But it's happening!!
On the not-so-bright side, I got bucked off a horse last week and have the bruises and sore body to prove it. Luckily I didn't break anything, but boy, am I sore!
All in all, June was pretty sweet. Here is my 1-second-a-day video of it:
Happy Canada Day, Canada!
