Richard's Lyme Disease Status

It's been 2 months since Rich's last Lyme update, and since it was not a happy one it's high time for some good news! Because as of right now, Rich is doing fantastic
His main treatment has been Doxycycline, an antibiotic, and he took it twice a day for 6 months. Almost 3 weeks ago he quit taking them, a step he was worried about, but so far, he's doing great! He hasn't taken pain meds in months, and stopped his anti-inflammatories for the most part (only taking one when he really can't stand the pain, which is less than once a week right now).

Rich likes to say that he's 90% back to normal, and if he can maintain his health at this level, he's happy.
The remaining 10% are his persistent shoulder pain, some occasional mild swelling and puffiness in his knee, and the need for lots of rest.
I know that anybody who has Lyme wants to know what's working for him, and I'm happy to share:

We haven't changed our diet. We don't cut anything out and eat meat, gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol, and all the other good stuff. Having said that, I try to keep our diet balanced, and make sure we both eat plenty of fruit and vegetables (we are growing some of them ourselves this year), meat that's either raised on our farm or bought from our local butcher (which is all natural grass fed beef), choose whole grain, keep processed food at a minimum, and enjoy treats in moderation(ish).
Rich retired this year due to his health, which was earlier than planned, but necessary. He's keeping his stress level extremely low and he rests lots. We both believe that the rest he takes and all the sleep are what's helping him the most. He's fortunate that he got sick at a time in his life where he has the luxury of taking a nap whenever he feels like it, and we're very grateful for that.
Basically, he spends his days doing only what he loves, which is looking after his beloved animals, hanging out with me and friends, and watching plenty of TV. No wonder he's feeling better! 😉
It is a chronic disease, and we know that he isn't cured. There are still (and probably always will be) times when he's not feeling the greatest, and if a day was hectic he will have to take it easy the next day. You gotta look after your spoons, you know?

But so far, so good. We are trying to take it one day at a time, and we are really happy with his progress! I've also noticed an increased awareness of Lyme Disease: last week we saw an ad on TV about Lyme Disease, the first time I've ever seen one! I can't remember the channel (sorry), but I think that's a very good sign. Most - or even all? - of the doctors in our town are educated about Lyme, and the more people we talk to, the more we realize how wide-spread this disease is. Way more people than I ever thought possible know someone with Lyme Disease! Knowledge is  power, and I'm hopeful that one day (soon?) there will be a cure.

Until then, we keep doing what we've been doing, and enjoy every day as much as possible!

Happy weekend,
Miriam

  2. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago with Lyme disease after three months of flu-like symptoms and severe knee and foot pain. Finally, after several tests and an expensive MRI, I was diagnosed. I was put on doxycycline and had a severe reaction to that, so then they put me on a different medication. My pain still didn’t go away for good. I still had bouts of pain and fatigue that last weeks. I was seeking something to help regain my life to be able to do things for myself. Through my primary physician i learnt about a Lyme disease herbal formula from NATURAL HERBAL GARDENS and their success rate with the treatment, i immediately started on the Lyme disease herbal protocol, I am glad to report the herbal formula worked effectively and there was no side effects, I had a total decline in symptoms, the pains, chronic fatigue and other symptoms stopped, my Lyme disease is totally REVERSED, Here is a link to the website we ordered from ww w.naturalherbalgardens.c om This Herbal Protocol is Incredible!!
