Our favourite willow tree
Summer. It really is here, has been for a while actually, and it looks like it's going to be a long and hot one this year.
I love summer, always have, always will. Life is easier, farmlife in particular, with no mud to wade through and happy animals and humans. With a brilliantly blue sky above, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves and the sun shining bright you can't help but feel good.
Today we had a long lunch with friends, catching up and enjoying seafood salads and some cold beers. Afterwards Rich and I hung out under the willow tree, our favourite spot on the farm, soaking up the sun, talking and playing with the dogs. It was an all-around perfect summer's day.

How was your weekend?
Oh this looks perfect :) My weekend consisted on learning how to cook pita bread, watching community and doing a nice fish barbecue at my in-laws wineyard! Delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all of the photos of your farm and your animals! So sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was fun. We explored one day and were lazy the next. Doesn't get better than that!
So true, it's the perfect weekend mix! I'm glad yours was a good one. Off to a new week!
ReplyDeleteYum, that sounds divine! What a great weekend! Looks like all had good ones, how awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you keep all the animals away from you when you do yoga outside? I try to stretch in my living room and I'm immediately attacked by my dogs!
ReplyDeleteHaha, so am I a lot, I have to shove them off the mat all the time. Take a look at this post: http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2015/03/lying-down-with-dogs-lets-grow-together.html
ReplyDeleteLuckily they play with each other a lot, otherwise I would never manage to do my workout :-)
Thanks Mary, we love it! It's weird, but until 2 years ago we never went to that spot, ever!
ReplyDeleteIt was there all this time right in front of our noses, but it took us an eternity to appreciate the spot for its beauty. I'm sure that's a metaphor for something. ;-)
That day does sound perfect!! Yay for summer!
ReplyDeleteYour farm is so beautiful! I could go there for a vacation and be perfectly content.
ReplyDeleteYour farm living truly seems like perfection! I want a yard like that when Mark and I buy a house! Sooooo jeaous!

It almost feels like the desert around here, just spectacular!
ReplyDeleteAw thanks! In fact, that's exactly what we are doing this year - a staycation at the farm. We decided that since the summers are so beautiful here we won't go away, but hang out under the willow tree all.summer.long. And I am a-okay with that ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful - in the summer. Take a look at a day in the rainy season: http://www.farmgirlmiriam.ca/2014/11/the-ugly-side-of-farm-life.html
ReplyDeleteEverything has its price. But still, to us it's totally worth it :-)
