Best of October

I've been sitting here for 10 minutes, trying to describe how the last month has been. I guess the best word I can come up with is emotional. It was filled to the brim with emotions: Wild happiness, lots of what-if's, kind words that brought me to tears, and a weird argument with our German guest.

The biggest - and most desperately awaited event - was selling our house. Yep, I'm still talking about that. Will I ever stop? It feels like this saga has been going on for years, but it really only started in July. On October 7th we officially sold our place, which definitely was the highlight of the month.

Ever since I announced at work that I will be leaving at the end of the year, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of kindness I have received. So many people have said really nice things to me, and I am so touched. As much as I sometimes complain about work, I really like this place. It is my home, with many of my co-workers feeling like family, and I will miss them.

In other news, I won a writing contest from SheSavy. My article was about - surprise - house hunting, comparing it to the equally difficult hunt for the perfect pair of jeans. I still try to write every day, and it felt awesome to be recognized.

Other than that, October was wet, wet, wet. It's usually one of my favourite months of the year, but this time it disappointed, weather-wise. I guess the only good thing about it is that I got a lot of packing done, and that every sunny day felt extra-special. Judging by my photos, you would think it was beautifully sunny all month, but that's because I seem to only take photos of the pretty days. Keeping the illusion alive that it never rains in blogland!

Our friend Karl-Heinz from Germany came for two weeks, and it was quite an emotional visit. We are very different people, from the way we live our lives to the way we see things, and we had a few heated discussions about our world views. But in the end, he said something that I thought was so sweet and true: "I have never regretted a single day that I spent at your house. Even if we have a discussion like two days ago [that was the "heated" one, where one of us cried at the end], it's all good. We've known each other for 10 years, and a friendship that long is like a marriage: Fights are normal. As long as we make up afterwards, it's all good." It sure is.

At work we dressed up as superheroes for Halloween (fun), and then I handed in my notice (not fun). Like I said, it's been an all-around sentimental month with all the feelings

I made a one-second a day video again, but I have to tell you that it's pretty uninspired. My goal for November is to get more creative with it again!

And that was my October. How was yours?

    1. I'm obsessed with them. Despite having gotten lazy with it (I seem to take videos of the same things over and over again), it's still such a fun tool to document the year.

    1. I'm so happy you're back! Just headed over to your blog to see what you've been up to. A LOT, as usual haha!
I am SO excited to start the next phase of life soon (28 days, eeks!), and it's so nice to be surrounded by people here in the blog world who are open and used to change. In our real life, most people are very settled, and reactions about our upcoming move have been mixed, with quite a few people wishing we would stay where we are, so everything stays the same, FOREVER. But we are ready, and so excited!
