As a kid and teenager, I was never much of a fangirl. I did like bands and movies of course, but there weren't specific people that I went gaga over.
Interestingly, that has changed in my adulthood, particularly in the last couple of years. Now there are quite a few people I admire and to whom I look up to, and one of them is Elsie Larson. She started the blog A Beautiful Mess, and the way her once little blog has grown into a huge, successful business is so amazing to me.
One of my favourite features on their blog is Sister Style, Elsie's and her sister Emma's fashion posts. Three weeks ago I saw this picture of her on Instagram - and fell head over heels in love with her dress. Apparently I wasn't the only one, and one helpful reader (shoutout to @timelesskristen, thanks lady!) left the source of the dress in the comments: my old friend Amazon.
Call me crazy, but I instantly logged on and ordered it. Sometimes a girl just gotta go with her gut instinct, and mine told me: that dress is what's been missing in your life. Wouldn't you know it, my gut was right! I picked it up last week, and couldn't be more pleased:
It's a sweater dress (versatile! can be worn in three seasons!), it's comfortable (ensuring I will actually wear it; ain't nobody got time for uncomfortable clothes), it's flattering (hides the old bloated tummy even during the special, infamous time of the month), and it's timeless (no colour, just primaries, means timeless, yes?).
It's a design that I wouldn't normally choose (I'm more into bright colours), but my fangirl-ness made me go for it, and I dig it.
Yes to change and trying new things!

Have you taken any new fashion steps lately?
Your dress and tights are super cute and those fun red clogs definitely stand out, Miriam.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I want to e-mail you about something. Can you e-mail me since I have your address and I will tell you what's about. Thanks.
Have a great weekend!
Love the dress! I would become a fan girl if online shopping was easier in Slovenia. Wise choice Miriam, I love it!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute. I like the basic colors (so versatile!) and the pattern.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! You look amazing in it. Your photoshoots always look like you are having so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI was never really a fangirl as a kid but I am definitely making up for it now. :)
Ahh yoga in a dress, what fun!! Haha and in heels, yet!
ReplyDeleteI actually cut my own hair the other day...like, a whole inch all by myself in front of the mirror, hand quivvering the ENTIRE time. Lol I needed it so badly though! There's something oddly liberating about just "biting the bullet" and making a change though :)

That's awesome! You're way braver than me, the last time I cut my own hair I was 6 years old and it didn't go very well lol
ReplyDeleteI like trying new things though, keeps life interesting!
Isn't it interesting? I find it enriches life being inspired by other people - it makes us braver to go after our own goals.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do have a ton of fun on my little shoots, there's always chickens, peacocks and dogs walking all around me :-)
Me, too! There are so many styling possibilities: funky tights, colourful shoes, accessories... I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteTotally does, lace is fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by! It's always fun meeting a fellow expat-German :-)
Have a relaxing weekend!
You, too Dawn Lucy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment, I'm really glad I ventured out of my fashion comfort zone.
Hopefully online shopping will become more easily available for you! Even though it's dangerous, way too easy to spend money haha!
ReplyDeleteThose clogs are my absolute favourite shoes, they are starting to look petty beat up. It may be time for a new pair soon! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for inviting me , that's so nice of you!!! I'm looking forward to it.
Love this friend! Love the dress, love that you just saw it and bought it ( I do it alllll the time, hehe). I also love that I saw the same post...and I was thisssss close to buying that lip print clutch she was wearing with that dress!! Haha.
ReplyDeleteOh I know, that purse is adorable!! You totally should buy it!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is amazing, love the look. well I bit it and went red last year but I think 8 months is enough so I may be biting back to blonde LOL.Thanks for linking up and I hope to see you Thursday
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!! Totally the right call :) I was never really gaga over anyone either.
ReplyDeleteI've done the same! Red for about the same amount of time, but I miss my natural brunette. Red is hard to pull off!
ReplyDeleteIt's so comfy, too, I'm sure I will be wearing this dress for years to come :-)
