You know what I learned this morning? I learned of the existence of NaNoWriMo. It is huge and I can't believe I didn't know of its existence, but just in case you are as oblivious as I am, let me explain what I have found out so far:
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month (which is every November). The idea is simple, drastic, crazy and awesome: you write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. No biggie, right?
Haha I know, wtf. Chris Baty, who "accidentally" founded the phenomenon in 1999, is convinced that would-be novelists don't necessarily need wisdom, endless time or perfectly thought-out plot lines, but only one thing: a deadline.
I have to say, I am majorly intrigued. I signed up right away, and fully intend to participate in November.
I had to write it down, so you all can hold me accountable when the time comes! As far as I have gathered, if you really manage to write 50,000 words and submit them to their website you will be a declared a winner.
It is crazy. I have never written anything except this blog. I only have the vaguest idea what my novel would be about. (Hey, I like the sound of that: "my novel".)
That's the beauty of it though: it doesn't have to be good. The idea behind it is to be able to sit down and not only start a book (which is something many people have done), but to finish it as well.
I love the challenge of it. If everything goes according to plan I will be finished on November 30, which is just 6 days before my 35th birthday!
I can't not include pictures, so here are my 365 project photos from April. Can you tell that I'm a spring fan? ;-)

What a cool idea!! And while I'd love to say "Hell yea I'll join!!!" I'm going to be realistic and instead say that I will happily cheer you on from the sidelines! Also, Declan loves your peacock.

ReplyDeleteMost attractive part of nature photography is sunset photography. i have even seen less pictures of sunrise than sunsets. what wonder nature creates in the sky is visible in the sunsetting hours of the day...
