Yoga is supposedly a serene, peaceful experience. It's as much an exercise in calming your mind as it is one for strengthening your body.
Unless you do it at my place. My exercise routine resembles more a comedy-channel special than the dimly lit, jasmine-scented tranquility of a yoga studio.
My dogs see my rolling around on the ground as a clear invitation to play. What else would I be doing down there?
Plonking themselves down in front of the camera:
My stomach muscles probably get a better workout than the rest of my body because they make me laugh so hard. Yoga with dogs - it's going to be the next big thing, mark my words!

"I'm pretty."
Still with one paw on the mat. Little rascal.
"Does mom need her head nuzzled? Silly question. Of course mom needs her head nuzzled."
(Also, in my mind I'm doing a full split. At least that's what it feels like. Hmm, definitely lots of room for improvement.)
"Whatcha doin'?"
"Handstand push-ups, and they are very hard. Please don't lick my face. No. NO!"
"AHHHHH, PHOEBE, GET YOUR TONGUE OUT OF MY FACE!"
"Gotcha."

"Peculiar behaviour."
They are clearly better (at) upward facing dog(s) - homecourt advantage.

This made me laugh out loud! I have been there a few times myself! Sweet pups - they're always so entertaining!
ReplyDeleteGreat funny post... your dogs are so well behaved, oh and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I loveeee them! They are so cute. I think is so exciting for them to see you on the mat, they definitely think is playtime!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this Miriam! I totally know the feeling. I literally yesterday just started working on my headstand and I had the same problem with the pup. He was in the way the whoooooooole time!! (I think I'll be posting one of the videos soon so you can take a peak!
ReplyDeleteP.s. I loooooove that Roxy sweater!

Such great shots!! I'm so impressed with your yoga progress!! Very cute post M! Yes, my two don't understand way I'm on the floor. Sam drops toys on the mat but he has gotten better now that I've been doing it more.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this video http://huff.to/1r3Xx7d
I wish I were half as good at yoga as you are!! I love that your pups want to be included!
ReplyDeleteHahah! This is too funny. Yoga time is obviously a favorite time for everyone.
ReplyDeleteLooking great with the poses!!
Ahh, my dog is the same way! As soon as I get the mat out, she's like "oh, time to play!"
ReplyDeleteAlso, your photos make me want to figure out my self-timer.
They are the best exercise buddies a girl could ask for! What they lack in discipline they make up for in entertainment value. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are! Makes working out much more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThank you! They are great, I love them. Annoying, but in a funny and entertaining way :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, for sure! 'Mom on the floor, on our level? Of course she wants to play! Why else would she come down to us?'
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorites as well, an American Eagle find from the discount rack.
ReplyDeletePlease post those videos, I need to see them! You should also check out the link Mariah from Food, Booze & Baggage posted in the comments above, it's hilarious!
Thanks Amanda, me too. I think I have finally found *my* exercise! You have running, I have yoga! All is right with the world :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteAnimals are amazing, and dogs are the loves of my life. You know that feeling!
It's been such a beautiful spring already that we can spend lots of time outside. I hope you get an early spring, too!
Haha thanks! :-)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't, thanks for sharing! It's absolutely hilarious, and I can relate to it reaaaally well. Loved your post today, Sam is a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteIt's all about the journey, not the results! There are tons of poses I cannot do at all. Just keep at it and it will come!
ReplyDeleteThe dogs have so much fun, it's contagious :-)
It sure is! We all love to hang out together. The dogs' exuberance and desire to move makes me want to be more active, too! Plus, they do a killer upwards facing dog :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, do it! The self timer is my best friend. I take a lot of photos just to check my posture, since I don't see myself and the dogs are not reliable teachers. It's really helpful! The way a pose feels and how it looks are 2 very different scenarios.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loooooooove that link!!
