Don't live the same year 75 times and call it a life

Humans are funny creatures. We know what's best for us, and do the opposite.
We have to go through painful life lessons, and still make the same mistakes again. We think and reflect on life, and convince ourselves that we have it all figured out, when in reality we have no clue.

We dole out advice to others, but when it comes to us? We are just as confused and scared as the people we tell what to do.
What it comes down to is as simple as it is annoying: We know exactly how to fix other people's lives - but we are helpless when it comes to our own.

When I look back at my own life so far, the very best parts of it always happened after I made some changes. Change is never easy, which of course is the reason why we are so reluctant to face it: It's scary, usually hard work, filled to the brim with mistakes waiting to happen, and daring us to chicken out.

Our mind will do its very best to sabotage us and give us a relentless list of all the reasons why we shouldn't change:
"It's not that bad." The reason why you want to change in the first place is usually dissatisfaction - but when faced with actually going through with it, suddenly you are convinced that the devil you know is much more preferable to the devil you don't.

"What if I don't like it?" What if you do? Have you considered that you may love it?

"What if I regret it?" Humans are amazingly adaptable creatures. Look back at everything you have done so far, all the new situation you already had to face. You managed all of them, didn't you? You may not have liked every single one of them, but you got through it, and you learnt something from each of them. Admit it, some of them turned out to be pretty damn awesome, right?

The list goes on interminably, on a loop, repeating itself over and over again.
Stop the list right there, right now.

Consider this:

And also this:
Picture yourself 50 years from now, in your rocking chair on the front porch, sipping a cup of tea and reflecting on your life.
Would you like your life to look like a brilliant movie, full of romance, action, adventures, highs and lows, new experiences and embarrassing stories that make you laugh now?
Or will it be a long line of repeats, all blending into one, making it hard to differentiate between the individual years?
It's your choice.

Life can be a daring adventure - if you dare to. Be afraid, and do it anyway! Your future self will thank you for it.
