Peeing in the woods

Is there anything more glorious than pine-scented air, a starry sky, and a warm breeze blowing gently across your nether region?

I'm glad you asked. Obviously, the answer is no.
Hi, I'm Miriam, and I have a confession to make: I like peeing outside.

Looking at this scenery, is it any wonder?
Luckily, I had plenty of opportunity to do just that over the last few days. We don't go camping that often, even though we love it. But time is a fickle lady, and gets away from us way too often... but not this time. We spent 3 marvellous days and nights out in the woods, and had a blast!

Part of the reason is the cowboy above. We hung out with him, his dog and horse before, and were happy to see them again. He's a really nice guy, total outdoorsman, and definitely unique. I even got a souvenir from him this time: he gave me his bandana (see below). Nice folks out in the wilderness!

Apart from hanging out with our cowboy friend we ate and drank a lot, went riding with the horses, went for a little walk here and there, and tried to keep Lily under control. It was her first camping trip, and she was super excited.

We were hoping to see a bear, and almost did - but before we got a better look he disappeared in between the shrubs. Probably just as well, I'm sure he wouldn't mind trying Corgi - she is a perfect fun-sized snack for a bear!

These cacti were evil. Not only are they small and easy to overlook, which makes them easy to step on. Their barbs have hooks on them, and pulling them out hurts like a son of a gun.

Do you like camping? Or glamping? Or are you a hotel-lover all the way?

I love these pictures! The scenery does look absolutely beautiful and I can only imagine how the air must have smelled. My family used to go camping every summer when I was little and I don't think words can describe that fresh, crisp morning air or that slightly chilly evening breeze. I can't wait to be done with school and am able to once again go camping every now and then...it looks like you had a fantastic time!

  3. I grew up camping. Now that Allyson is away at college, Dan and I have gotten more into it. Instead of spending money on a hotel AND a spa trip for the dogs, we now camp. We love it! I do need to learn to be more creative with cooking. Right now it consists of eggs and hot dogs. LOL thankfully there are bathrooms where we stay. However, as active hikers, peeing in the woods is not avoidable. I have become more comfortable doing this but am always worried THAT will be the moment when strangers will walk past. I have had a few close calls. LOL

  5. Sounds like you had so much fun and the pictures are great!! I'm not a camping kind of girl. Though I would like to do an overnight trip with horses, but only one night would be my limit! I use to always do the horse overnight trips at summer camp, but otherwise I like to have running water :)

  6. When I was younger my godfather loved camping but, my mom hated it. We would end up spending half the time in the tent and the other half in a hotel. I enjoyed camping and do miss it. I haven't gone in ages. It looks like you had a blast.

  7. Gorgeous photos! What an adventure!!

I am what you would call "indoorsy". Camping just isn't my thing. I liked it as a kid, but somehow lost that interest as an adult!
