Does it make me a better person?

Today's Blogtember topic is one I have eagerly awaited ever since I started this challenge.
Discuss ways that blogging or social media has changed you.
Oh where to begin?

I started blogging almost 6 months ago, on March 15. In the beginning it was mostly to create a place where I could post photos - about a year ago I developed a passion for (cellphone) photography because of my smartphone.

Right off the bat I was hooked.

It is hard to explain, but blogging makes me feel more alive. Too much? Well, it does!
Blogging has become my most cherished hobby, a passion, a reason to live life more intensely.
Documenting life's little moments makes me appreciate them so much more!
I have always been secretly worried that life would pass me by and I forget all the special little moments. When you live in your head as much as I do you tend to not pay attention to a lot of things.
But writing it down, taking pictures, and putting it all on here makes me remember it.
Katie from Skunkboy (a blog I highly recommend, Katie is the most adorable person ever!) describes her blog as a "mini time capsule", and I couldn't put it better.

I feel part of a huge community, connected with so many people, and I love that feeling. I'm just starting now to form relationships, and it is such a great part of the whole experience!
You learn so much about people, and life in general.

I firmly believe people are more honest in their writing than they are in everyday life - the protective layers fall off, and people reveal their insecurities, worries, fears, joys, obsessions, loves.
It is so helpful and such a relief to see that everybody struggles. Everybody has lost something, is afraid of something, has angsts and disappointments. That's life.

And even though on some level we all know that, it is completely different to be a tiny part of someone else's experience.
And you know what else? I follow a lot of blogs where the writers really appreciate and love life, despite - or because of - life's ups and downs. It is very uplifting and makes me more grateful for what I have in my own life.
You find people with similar experiences: Those who followed their love to a new country, like I did. Women who decide not to have children, and who share all the positives and negatives that come with that decision. There are others who were unsatisfied with their jobs and take the plunge into starting their own business.
I have "met" (not in real life, but Internet-land) so many creative, inspiring, brave women through this little adventure called blogging. They inspire me to be braver and more honest in my own life, be it with my fashion choices, or how to be kinder to people.

Then there is the technical aspect. It gives me a powerful feeling of accomplishment when I have learned something technical like html codes, formatting, or even what an url is. (Never knew that.)
I'm completely self-taught when it comes to anything computer-related, and it all takes me a while to figure out, which makes it all the sweeter when it works!

I kept the best for last. The writing. Oh how I love to write. Who knew? I always liked books, and liked to write essays at school, but I never kept a diary. Or wrote just for the fun of it at home.
And now I CAN'T-STOP. It is never far from my mind.
It helps to resolve problems. It makes me feel creative. It makes me so happy!
Best feeling ever? When a new idea pops in your head. God I love that feeling, it's like a jolt of electricity.

Honestly, I could go on and on. But I will stop now. You get the gist, I love blogging, and instagram, and pinterest.
Where else can I post so many pictures of my dogs?
  xoxo Miriam
