i always wonder if all the radiation in the room isn't bad for the nur.. i'm sorry, technologists ^^ is it? and do people still 'radiate' after an x-ray?
ReplyDeleteNope, the x-rays pass through and are gone in milliseconds. No lingering radiation in the room, or afterglow for the patient.
DeleteThere is a different kind of treatment, nuclear medicine, where the patient has to consume tiny amounts of radiopharmaceuticals (usually though an IV or in form of pills). Special "cameras" are then recording the radiation the patient is giving off. It's basically the opposite of normal x-ray procedures. After this exam, the patient will continue to give off small amounts of radiation for several hours.
Too funny! And OUCH - that first pic of the mangled hand...I can't even imagine what that poor soul must have suffered through! I think my favorite part of this post is the "Mammogramming boobs is more important than instagramming them" - if only people could remember that!!!!
