I have just returned from a pigeon show banquet. In case you have never attended one, let me give you a quick recap:
There were ladies present with several different colours in their hair, i.e. extreme roots. Somehow it didn't look ombré.
One of the biggest guys in the pigeon business (no sniggering now, it's a thing) was chewing tobacco and spitting it into a cup. I wouldn't have noticed if he wouldn't have been one of the speakers - when they called his name he had to first dispose of a sizeable chunk into his trusted (at this point pretty full) cup. It was equally fascinating and gross.
There were quite a few pigeon peeps who remembered me, but I didn't remember them. Always disturbing. Apparently they had been to our place before? Or talked to me on the phone? I was a bit embarrassed, but at the same time, not surprised: those bird men are all the same to me. Sorry guys.
Aside from a few kids, I was by far the youngest person present, and I'm not complaining. Nice little boost for the old self esteem.
It was a surprisingly pleasant night, with good food, a few laughs, and, obviously, a few glasses of wine.
Did you honestly think I would do this sober?
Exactly.
And now, on to my photos from October!
