... lead me to wearing fire-engine red tights.
Today I'm killing two birds with one stone. (Which, btw, is a nasty phrase. Who coined it? Someone who just watched Hitchcock's "Birds" and was freaked out? Leave our poor feathered friends alone.)
Sorry about that. What was I saying? Oh yes, today I'm efficient. I managed to fit two posts into one! Fridays are usually reserved for outfits, but I also couldn't resist to answer Blogtober's prompt. Fortunately, the two go perfectly together! If that's not kismet, I don't know what is.
So, about the tights. Or tights in general. I have a longlasting love affair with them, because they are kinda the greatest. You don't have to shave! They keep you warm! They make your legs look better! And there are about a million different patterns, colours, and textures available. Tights can totally change your outfit, depending on your mood: if you feel bold, go with a bright colour. If you want to be quirky, choose some crazy pattern. And if you are like me (until recently), you will choose black every.damn.time.
Not that there is anything wrong with black. It's like the LBD - you can never go wrong with choosing black. It is slimming, classic, and goes with everything.
But over the last year, I have noticed a gradual shift to bolder, brighter patterns. Some of my favourite bloggers (Elizabeth, Elsie and Emma, Katie) wear amazing tights, and they have inspired me to step out of my comfort zone.
So the long and short of it is: I never thought blogging would influence my fashion choices - but it totally does.
Now please excuse me, I have a turkey to prepare - it's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, and I'm cooking up a storm!
Meat sweats, I'm ready for you.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Soon-to-be-stuffed Miriam

ReplyDeleteI am wearing a new pair of tights today and totally feel all the love you described!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to wear colored tights...but it's too cold out here in MN! Maybe one day if I move somewhere warm...I love the way they look and think they're downright adorable!

Your right about tights being so convenient, comfy yet there's a whole world of variety. Love the red legs against the neutrals.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of the red tights!
ReplyDeletethey look great! i love fall...tights galore!
ReplyDeleteLove the red tights! I'm a fan of tights in general (or as my German mom calls them, Strumpfhosen). She's the one who helped me come up with a new phrase to replace "kill two birds with one stone" (which we also found disturbing). It's feed two birds with one hand. I like birds (which is why I'm not eating turkey for Thanksgiving - lol!) so the phrase fits. Glad I found your blog through the linkup!
ReplyDeleteI love your mom's phrase! Will use it from now on. I grew up in Germany, so I know Strumpfhosen very well!
Delete:)
DeleteYou look lovely my friend! Yes, blogging has influenced my style too.
ReplyDeleteThat bird quote is awful, I agree. But I use it too bcs I don't know any other ones that have that same meaning.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Our dinner is on Monday! Can't wait to get stuffed.
You look so cozy in the thick sweater and tights! I love tights, I much wether wear a skirt and tights with boots in winter than anything else...it's so comfortable. Yum I can't wait for Thanksgiving food!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in the red tights. I seldom wear tights but am thinking of stepping out of my comfort zone and trying leggings. I've always been afraid to. But, after seeing you rock the red tights why not try the leggings.
ReplyDeleteLong live tights! Colored tights are especially awesome! These look great on you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I hate the "two birds with one stone" phrase as well. Predictably, I also don't care for the "more than one way to skin a cat". Meow.
