The ugly side of farm life

You all know that I quite enjoy living on a farm, right? I write about it often and have many pretty pictures to prove it.

But there is also another side to farm life. The side where you have to go outside in the rain, cold, and most of all: mud. Mud is everywhere! Our field is soggy, the pond has tripled in size, and gumboots have become a necessity once again. It is downright depressing. This is my least favourite time of the year, and I'm sure you will understand why - take a look:

This is how the field looked just 2 weeks ago. Times have changed.
You and me both, buddy.

  1. Farm life can never be ugly! Even when you think it is; just think, you could be a college student shuddering under massive amounts of hw, projects hanging over your head, locked in a smallish little dorm room, slaving away at a retail store to pay for tuition and gas, miles away from home. I'd totally take farm life - goods and bads - over that! Your life seems so magical, Miriam, so beautiful and so full of love and family. I'm thankful to follow you and have you as a friend, constantly seeing how enjoyable life can really be :)

  2. Oh, west coast/wet coast. That is one thing I love about my move to the Okanagan for sure. It is not as wet here. Although, we just got our first snow dump so...lol Farm life definitely looks more appealing in the summer but doesn't everything. ;-)

  3. Burr....just looking at these pictures make me want to crawl back into bed with a hot drink :) I love that even the picture of Lilly is a bit not her smiley self, she is looking like, "really!?" Hope the sun comes back soon!!

  4. Gah, I love Bear.

As you know, my parents have a farm/ranch, so I totally relate to the ugly side of agriculture life. Fortunately, the good outweighs the bad!
