As I mentioned a few days ago, I'm participating in another blogging challenge: Blogember from a happy girl.
Today we are talking about our favourite inspirational quote. I love quotes - just take a look at my pinterest board wise words - quote overload!
The one that has resonated with me a lot lately is this: Stay true to you and you will end up incredibly happy.
I feel that I'm just now finding out who I am. As a teenager I had no clue (like most teens); in my twenties I was searching; now in my thirties, I am becoming the person I'm meant to be.
Being on this journey is really exciting. Leaving all those insecurities from my younger years behind is amazing! I was a pretty insecure teenager - not knowing who I was or wanted to be. Career woman? Housewife? Stay-at-home-mom? Career woman+mother? I just didn't know.
Choosing a career was just as difficult: I went from wanting to become a journalist, over librarian, over a little dapple in forestry, to organist, and finally, x-ray technologist.
I don't envy teenagers - navigating those years between the ages of 13-20 (or 30?) is tough. Very fun sometimes, but also scary and full of angst.
Finding to yourself is a journey that takes time and requires a lot of reflection and honesty - being honest to yourself. Ask yourself: what values are important to you? How would you like to be treated by other people? What is it that makes you happy? Answering those questions is the first step; living by those answers is the second one.
I'm just at the beginning of this journey, but already I can glimpse the rewards: contentment. Feeling in harmony with yourself. Peace.
How much better will it get? I intend to find out.
What is your favourite quote? Link up with a happy girl!
